Safi invests to become the first water facility replicating petrol stations model

#

The project will start in January 2017 and is expected to be completed by April 2017

As part of the company’s commitment to encourage adoption of recycled water for the benefit of the Ajman community; Safi is adopting new water distribution methods to replicate those used by petrol stations, such as providing a shaded re-filling area with an organised queuing system. The company will also be branding the filling stations with illuminated signboards and buildings in order to promote the new trademark.

The project includes a complete refurbishment of the existing facility to improve customer service and hence satisfaction. Among the numerous improvements and additional features, are the construction of 10 extra filling points to serve more customers simultaneously, and decreasing trucks filling time to allow for more rotations.

The transformation will change Safi’s focus and their customers’ perception from a reverse osmosis plant facility, to a customer-oriented service, selling recycled water for industrial and commercial applications. This transformation will also position Safi as a unique-branded company operating a water station, thereby increasing visibility and awareness of Ajman as a leader in environmental initiatives.

The project is being managed by the Safi operating team, with support from BESIX and Veolia for design and tender activities, and will commence in January 2017. Completion of the project is expected by April 2017.

Safi is a public-private partnership between the Municipality of Ajman, BESIX and Veolia. Established in 2011 in the Emirate of Ajman (UAE), Safi is the first plant in the region that brings the concept of commercialised “recycled water” fully into practice by supplying high-quality water for various industrial and commercial use applications. Safi recycles tertiary treated wastewater from the Ajman Sewage Treatment Plant, by polishing it through ultra-filtration and reverse osmosis processes.

We constantly think about our customers and how to improve the quality and service we offer. This project is a major step in this continuous journey that will bring recycled water business to a new level of maturity.said Gurvan Dersel, Deputy General Manager at Safi.
