BESIX finalizes Asset Evaluation for Haya Water in Oman

#

BESIX finalized a complete asset evaluation of sewage treatment plants networks and pumping stations in 12 Governorates in Oman for Haya Water

Together with its partner Aquaplus, a subsidiary of the Flemish wastewater treatment company, BESIX evaluated the health index and calculated the Life Cycle Cost of assets that had recently been added to the portfolio of the Omani wastewater service company.

Not less than 59 sewage treatment plants, 72 pumping stations and 855km of sewage pipelines required a detailed and complete evaluation over the project duration of one year. The information contained in this asset evaluation has been integrated into the planning tools of Haya Water to ensure an efficient and qualitative asset management approach.

During the first quarter of the project, the team centralized all available information contained in 2,750 documents collected all over the country. This documentation was translated into an asset management register in which specifications and characteristics of each component were defined.

One of the main objectives of Haya Water was to have a health index of all critical components of its sewage assets. By linking this index to a cost database, the residual value as well as the Life Cycle Cost of each asset can be calculated.

To determine health indices, the project team spent the subsequent 2 quarters visiting assets scattered all over the country. For the sewage network, BESIX-subsidiary Moalajah covered surveys via pole cameras (manholes) and CCTV (pipelines). The sewage treatment plants, process and technology assessments were part of the intensive survey.

The last part of the project included establishing a cost database as well as GIS and preliminary environment assessment. All information was finally inserted into a technical database (Maximo) which is regarded as an indispensable tool for Haya Water in its operations and maintenance planning.

Haya Water has played a vital role in terms of supporting the BESIX team with the needed data gathered from different authorities and stakeholders. They were pivotal in supporting us with the required documents, including the needed equipment for the sewer line cleaning and CCTV through UAE and Oman borders.explained Qaiss Al Bayatee, Project Manager.

Haya Water were very impressed with our team dedication and collaboration in undertaking the asset evaluation tasks and maintaining deliverables in time. Haya Water were also delighted with the knowledge transfer to their Team in all aspects of the scope.confirmed Al Bayatee.

Haya Water were very thankful for the training undertaken by their engineers in-house in Belgium and the practical experience brought forward by their engineers at both BESIX and Aquaplus.said Al Bayatee.
